Hrabrovo Manor

Khrabrovo, Dmitrov district, Moscow region, Russian Federation

Description:

From the old manor in Khrabrovo, very little has been preserved. The history of this possession goes back to the XVIII century, and during the following centuries it belonged only to two noble families: the princes Obolensky and Lazarev, who bought it at the end of the XIX century. In the 1770s, the estate was mainly wooden buildings, as well as a park and orchard. At the beginning of the XIX century A.N. Obolensky rebuilt the house and church in stone.

The greatest contribution to the development of the estate was made by the Obolensky princes. Nikolai Petrovich Obolensky managed to unite the previously fragmented possession in the last third of the XVIII century, and his uncle Alexei Nikolaevich made a significant contribution to the development of manor architecture. The Lord’s house was one-storey, small in size, with a wooden mezzanine. It survived the revolution and the Great Patriotic War, but was destroyed in the late twentieth century. Of the whole complex of buildings, only the Pokrovsky Church, built in the 1790s, has survived. Compositionally, the temple is made in the Baroque style with elements of classicism. The church belongs to the type of “eights on four”, it is crowned by a high vault.
