About the company:
The Dmitrov Museum was opened in 1918, on the initiative of the district Zemstvo and the local intelligentsia. The first was headed by a famous scientist, academician M.N. Tikhomirov. The collection of the museum was formed in 1920, it includes various items collected in ethnographic expeditions, as well as works of fine, temple, folk and decorative and applied art and manor objects. Also in the collections of the museum are stored unique documents, photographs and films.
The art collection of the Dmitrov Museum is one of the most interesting in the suburbs. In its halls there are collections of Russian and Western European painting of the XVIII - XIX centuries, as well as samples of fine art of the XX century and products of artistic folk crafts. The main local excursions include "Estate life", "The Battle for Peremilovskaya Height", "Old Russian art", "Decembrists - heroes of the war of 1812", as well as "Dmitrov from ancient times".
The museum building deserves special attention. Thanks to its pastel greenish finish, it wonderfully merges with the luxurious surrounding plantations. The construction is made in the style of classical baroque, at the front entrance there is a semicircular porch decorated with a number of Doric columns.
