The Chapel of George the Victorious

Russia, Crimea, Evpatoria, Victory Avenue, 27

Description:

In the south-east of Sevastopol, the Chapel of the Great Martyr George the Victorious found its refuge. It is located on the Sapun Mountain not by chance. During the Great Patriotic War, a serious battle took place here, as a result of which Soviet soldiers and sailors showed heroic courage and reached the top of the mountain.

Externally, the chapel is a cone-shaped building, the top of which is crowned by the figure of an angel. Above the entrance to the chapel hangs the icon of George the Victorious, made in mosaic style.

This church is not only part of Orthodox culture, but also a constant reminder of the feat of Soviet soldiers in the Great Patriotic War.

Not far from the chapel are samples of military equipment, both Soviet and enemy.

You can get to the chapel by personal car or by public transport from the center of Sevastopol by shuttle taxi number 71 or from Kamyshovaya Bay by bus number 107.
