Tarkhancut Cape
Tarkhankut (Tarkhan-Kut; Ukr. Tarkhankut, Tarkhan-Kut, Crimean-Tat. Tarhan Qut, Tarkhan Kout) is a cape in the west of the Crimea, on the peninsula of the same name.
A popular place for diving, windsurfing, kiting. From April to October, the sun shines brightly, and the water in July-August warms up to +28 ° C. There are no rivers nearby, so the water is crystal clear. This allows even underwater photography competitions. On the cape itself there is a lighthouse, a small village of Mayak, and next to it the village of Olenevka (Karaja). The cape is flat, with sandy beaches. The coast to the north-east and south-east of the cape is precipitous and rocky, there are no beaches (except for Ocheretai Bay). The northeastern part of Tarkhankut is called Jangul, and the southeastern part is called Atlesh. On Atlesh there are very picturesque rocks, so he at one time became the place of filming the films “Amphibian Man”, “Pirates of the XX century”, “People and dolphins” [source not specified 1997 days]. In 1979, underwater filming of the film “Aquanauts” was completed here. At Cape Tarkhankut at a depth of 12 meters in 1992, the underwater museum “Alley of Leaders” was opened, numbering more than 50 exhibits, in addition to the sculptures of politicians, for example, Lenin, there are sculptures of cultural figures, for example, Pushkin.
