Black Lake
Russia, Leningrad region, Gatchina district, Gatchina city
Description:
Black Lake can be seen on the territory of the Priory Park in the city of Gatchina in the Leningrad region. It is of natural origin, at least there are no documents that speak about human intervention in the formation of the reservoir. The lake is the oldest in town. It has been known since 1746. During these years, the lake was already on the plans of the city.
The shores of Black Lake are very beautiful. On one there is a unique picturesque Priorate Palace, on the other the Admiralty Bridge, which connects it to the White Lake. The lake is quite small: its length is 500 meters, and its width is 200 meters. There are two small islands in the lake. The Black Lake is fed by underground keys.
