Description:
The Grand Gatchina Palace-Castle is part of the Gatchina Museum-Reserve. The palace was built in 1766-1781 by the Italian architect Antonio Rinaldi.
Since then, the palace has undergone two reconstructions, and after the Great Patriotic War, the restoration of many of its premises is carried out to this day. The palace is three-storey, with two towers, its central building is an elongated rectangle. The southern facade of the palace overlooks the parade ground, where a bronze monument to Paul I is installed, and the northern facade - to the park, where the Silver Lake extends further along the slope. The building of the Gatchina Palace has repeatedly attracted the attention of filmmakers, so the interiors of the castle often became scenery when filming many feature films.
