An excursion to Mars. Altai.

Welcome to the most exciting tour of your life! Today I will tell you about an incredible adventure that awaits you on the Martian landscapes of the Altai Mountains.

You will go from the city of Gorno-Altaisk on an amazing journey along the Chui tract, which runs through the stunning mountain passes Seminsky and Chike Taman. You are waiting for breathtaking views of snow-white mountains, deep gorges, crystal clear rivers and picturesque intermountain basins. And finally, you will find yourself among the amazing Martian landscapes that so resemble the surface of the Red Planet.

The way to Mars lies along the Chuisky tract, which in the ranking of the ten most beautiful world roads National Geographic took fifth place. This path in its beauty bypassed even the “Great Ocean Road” in Australia. During the tour you will be waiting for the most popular points of Altai: it is not only the local Mars, but also the Geyser Lake, the confluence of the Chuya and Katun rivers, Chike Taman and Seminsky passes, as well as the Shirlak waterfall.

Your trip will be filled with amazing adventures: you can see ancient petroglyphs, explore mysterious valleys, enjoy the silence and beauty of this unique corner of nature.

Excursion programme:

We go on a tour at about 07:00 from the city of Gorno-Altaisk. On the Seminsky pass, a coffee break, with the opportunity to see numerous souvenir shops and an unusual obelisk made of stone, dedicated to the accession of the Altai people to Russia.

Next in the program is the Chike Taman Pass, the fusion of Katuni and Chui, Shirlak Falls, Geyser Lake and a view of the snow-capped mountains of the North Chui Ridge. Each point implies a stop for the opportunity to relax and take photos for memory.

The main point of travel is Altai Mars. Here you will need to change to all-wheel drive cars and overcome the difficult part of the road. Mars in the Altai is a place in the Kyzyl-Chin tract, where the local mountains have an atypical color with an overflow of red, orange, blue, green and many other shades. The rocks resemble the planet Mars, because the soil under your feet will be bright red!
