Blue Lakes (Blue Eyes of Katuni)
Description:
Blue lakes are a very beautiful and unusual place, they are located on the left bank of Katun, four to five kilometers from the village of Askat.
In autumn, from the Berel tourist base, tourists are transported to the island to the lakes on motor boats. In winter, the lakes can be reached by ice from the Berel camp. To get to the lakes by land, you need to drive the whole village of Askat down the Katun River, further along the field and then move between the mountains and the forest along the road. The car is preferably all-wheel drive. On a path going sharply down, tourists descend to the first large lake. Be careful on the descent, especially in rain or snow. There are three lakes. The water in the lakes flows from the lake to the lake and then flows into Katun.
Lakes appear at the end of August with a low water level in Katun and exist as lakes all winter until the second decade of April. The lakes are fed by springs, and the water in the lakes practically does not freeze, which allows you to swim in them all winter. On the island on weekends, a frame bath is drowned, so you can swim and warm up. In the spring, the full-water Katun fills the lakes, which become river ducts around small islands. The water in the lakes is amazing rich blue. The greatest depth of the lakes, according to the latest measurements 4.5-6.5 meters.
