Altai's mother - Uch-Enmek
Description:
Held at any time of the year!
This tour is for those who want to visit real places of power, not made up specifically for tourists!
The journey begins at the airport Gorno-Altaisk. A couple of hours we drive along the Chui tract, and the first stop will be the Seminsky pass - the highest point of the legendary road. The height is 1717 meters above sea level. The cedar taiga belt begins on the rise, and a stele is installed on the pass itself in honor of the bicentenary of the annexation of Altai to Russia.
Immediately after the descent, near the village of Karakol, we will make a turn to the right and go along the Ursul River. Here, not far from the village of Bichiktu-Bom on a low mountain Mezelik stands "Monument to the gopher". The statue, put in a sign of gratitude of the Altai people to this small animal that saved people from hunger during the years of military hardship.
Then we will go to the village of Kulada. There we will take a tour of the local museum. An experienced guide will help you immerse yourself in the nuances of Altai life and tell you what and by whom the Karakol Valley is famous.
Here we will change comfortable transport to a cross-country car and go higher to the mountains, to Lake Aru-Kem.
On the way, we will stop for lunch at a small cozy camp. The food is simple, homemade, but very tasty and hearty.
UAZ "Loaf" will take us only before the start of the climb - then we go on foot. However, not very long - literally in forty minutes we will already see the surface of the amazing lake Aru-Kem. Translated from Altai - a clean lake. And it's true - the water is so clear that you can see the fish, which is apparently invisible there! Locals say the lake is bottomless. In fact, no river, no stream flows into it, and no stream flows out.
When we return to Kulada, we will take the opposite course. But on the way to the Chui tract we will stop near the Basadar mound complex. It is interesting because between the early Scythian burials, there are so-called "Afanasiev steles". The impressive stone pillars, always slightly tilted in the same direction, mark the burial grounds of the Athanasian archaeological culture of the middle of the fourth millennium BC.
And for a snack, before leaving the valley, we will examine petroglyphs - samples of ancient rock paintings that have survived to our days.
