Suspension Bridge on Patmos Island
Description:
The suspension bridge on the island of Patmos is located near the village of Chemal and leads to the temple of John the Theologian. To get to the church, bearing the name of the apostle, you can only pass over the bridge.
In itself, such a walk is a trip with elements of small extreme, as the bridge is stretched over Katunya at an altitude of about 15 meters. In order to make the transition, you need to move carefully and slowly, without rocking the structure.
The development and implementation of the bridge project belong to Viktor Pavlov, an artist from Moscow. It was he who came up with the idea to connect the sacred island of Patmos with the opposite shore in such a picturesque way. Since 2000, both the bridge and the temple are under the jurisdiction of the Barnaul-Altai diocese.
To get to the suspension bridge, you need to come to the village of Chemal and, moving along the main street of Pchelkin, find on the right side the exit to the asphalt road. Then there will be a climb to the mountain, and in a couple of kilometers - a parking lot. From it to the path leading directly to the bridge, it will remain to walk about 500 meters.
