chemal village, Chemal district, Altai Republic
Description:
The Altai region in its beauty is not inferior to the Crimea. Especially often travelers like to visit the village of Chemal, which perfectly combines the Siberian taiga, steppes and Mongolian semi-deserts.
The village gets its name from the river Chemal, as it is located at the confluence of this river in Katun. From Novosibirsk and Barnaul, from Biysk or Gorno-Altaisk, you can get there by bus, which runs regularly.
The river runs along the slope of Mount Tamanel, where it begins from a small lake. The river is fast, the banks are stony. About 15 main tributaries flow into Chemal, its length is 54 km. The river has a hydroelectric power station and a reservoir.
The biggest attraction of this river is that there is amazingly clean water. And, although it is cold, it warms up in the summer to swim. There is also wonderful air in these places. This attracts many tourists for recreation and recovery.
