Gorno-Altaysk

To the foot of Belukha

Description:

In the picturesque highlands of the Central Altai, where Belukha admires his reflection in the mirror of Lake Akkem. In 1978, the mountain was declared a natural monument of the Gorno-Altai Autonomous Region, and in 1998 it was included in the list of UNESCO World Natural Heritage Sites “Altai – Golden Mountains”.

Mount Belukha is equidistant from three oceans - Indian, Arctic, Pacific - this allows you to call it the center of the earth, the umbilical cord. Its three peaks are replicas of the three stars of Orion's belt - which suggests its connection to the cosmos. And the dazzling white never exposed peak is a symbol of holiness and purity.

Belukha has long been shrouded in a halo of myths, secrets, legends. Many believe that somewhere there is a mysterious Shambhala, a paradise that will come after the disappearance of people. In Belukha lives Umai - goddess of the Turks. From here the great Buddha Gautama came to India. Old Believers believe that somewhere near there is a happy country Belovodye, which not everyone can get into. According to other beliefs, there is an energy bridge right from Belukha to Everest. Here is the center of the Earth, energetically connected with the Cosmos. Native Altaians do not come close to their shrine. In general, the cult of mountains is very developed in Asia - to the sacred or revered peak should be approached with humility in the heart, with pure thoughts.
