Open Altai! Journey along the Chui tract

DAY 1

Meeting of the group in Barnaul at the hotel "Tourist" at 9 am local time. Or a meeting with the group in Gorno-Altaisk is possible at about 12:00.

Let’s take a minibus that we won’t be leaving for the next few days. Moving a few hours, during which we will hear a lot of interesting things from the instructor and get acquainted, we will stop at a cafe for lunch.

The road runs along the shores of turquoise Katun, Altai Mountains and steppes, the surrounding species are already fascinating. We are going to Wuch-Enmek National Park, where we will spend the night. We will walk through the beautiful surroundings to warm up after the road.

We'll sleep at the yurt camp.

DAY 2

We visit the ethnographic park in the village of Karakol Uch-Enmek.

Mount Uch-Enmek and the surrounding areas were considered special. Indigenous Altaians believe that there is an acupuncture point of the earth, and the Karakol Valley is a repository of information about key processes taking place on the planet. Native Americans say that Uch Enmek is one of the 20 mountains that unite the Earth. Scientists call this place the cradle of world civilizations, and still scratch their heads over the mysterious mounds, stelae and petroglyphs.

After a walk through the park, we go further along the Chuisky tract through the legendary Chike-Taman pass.

We still have a lot of plans today! We'll walk down an old road. We will see the confluence of the two most important rivers of Altai - Chuya and Katun. We will visit the Kalbak-Tash tract, where there are more than 5000 petroglyphs.

Overnight on the shore of one of the Ulagan lakes at the recreation center.

DAY 3

We leave the Chui tract towards the Katu-Yaryk pass, our goal is an observation deck, which opens one of the most impressive panoramas of Altai - the Chulyshman River valley. You can't just drive past it :

Further along the steepest serpentine of Altai we go down. And then we go to the south of Teletskoye Lake - a very beautiful and little-visited corner of the Altai Mountains due to its inaccessibility. But first we will go to another monument of nature - stone mushrooms - bizarre formations that appeared on the slope of the valley due to centuries of erosion.

We will stay overnight at the recreation center in the valley of the Chulyshman River.

Moving 140 km, walking part 10 km.

DAY 4

We continue our way to the shore of Teletskoye Lake, where we will take a boat for a walk on it, during which we will see a lot of beauty, including swim to waterfalls. We will see the waterfall Korbu, which can be reached only by water.

After a walk in the houses on the shore of the lake, we will cook an ear from local fish, if we will be with successful fishermen. :
In the evening we will visit the flooded bath!

DAY 5

Return to the Chui tract and go to the village called Myony, near which there is an amazing place - a geyser lake with an ever-changing pattern and shades of different layers of the lake.

Then we go to the village of Kurai, where we will be located at a recreation center in the steppe overlooking the majestic North Chui Ridge.

Moving 300 km.

DAY 6

We move to UAZ and head towards the glaciers of Aktru. On the way we will pass the Kurai steppe with fascinating landscapes and monuments. Come to Alplagher, have lunch. After lunch, we climb to the Actor Glacier. We will spend the night in houses with a stove right on the territory of the alplager.

DAY 7

We go down to Kurai, transfer to our minibus and continue along the Chui tract.

Today, our goal is the Tydtu-Yaryk yurt complex with traditional yurts of various peoples of the Altai, in which we will stay for the night.

Also today we will go to another miracle of nature, popularly called "Mars", thanks to the cosmic landscapes and the incredible coloring of the mountain slopes.

And in the evening we will make another walk to the picturesque slopes of the Kurai Ridge, where we can see the real Altai grass.

Moving 150 km.

DAY 8

Today we have an auto excursion to the valley of the Akkol River to the lake of the same name.

By road we will get to the glacial lake Akkol. Walk around the neighborhood, fully enjoying the nature of these amazing places. We will reach the neighboring lake Karakul, which is also called “black lake”. And between these lakes are white sand dunes that you obviously don't expect to see in the mountains.

Back to the yurt complex for the night.

DAY 9

Today is a long move – we are going back to Barnaul. Enjoy the landscapes of the Chui tract, remember the week spent here and stock up on souvenirs.

Returning home is best planned the next morning.
