Floating on the Chuya and Katun rivers

DAY 1

Meeting in Barnaul, meeting in Gorno-Altaisk, moving to the village of Chibit 590 km (from Barnaul), about 12 hours on the way. Lunch in the dining room on the way. Late in the evening we set up camp on the river bank.

DAY 2

In the morning we collect catamarans, prepare for rafting. We pass the briefing, break into crews. Instructors will tell and show what to do on the catamaran, and also teach other necessary skills.

Today there will be no rapids and the entire distance we will study and train on calm water the basics of the catamaran control, put the right stroke, rake the crew.

DAY 3

Today we pass the thresholds Dark (3 cs) and Petrel (4 cs)
Obstacles will be growing, so there will be a place to consolidate the skills acquired at yesterday’s training, in front of the main thresholds that lie ahead.

Threshold Burevestnik, we will examine, put insurance. Before passing, each crew will discuss its trajectory and in the evening after passing the threshold, we will analyze the mistakes made. We will also give a lecture on the dynamics of water flows.

DAY 4

Day.
We'll rest on the Behemoth's doorstep.
After a long trip to Barnaul and Chibit, it is better to take an early break to digest and consolidate new skills learned earlier.
Let's take a walk at Shirlak Falls.
We will prepare for tomorrow’s passage of the Behemoth (5 cs), discuss insurance options and possible emergency situations.

DAY 5

We put up insurance and photo-video operators, in turn we pass the threshold of the Behemoth.
Next, we are waiting for a large and saturated transition to the Turbine threshold. At this site we will pass the thresholds: Classic, Slalom, Deceived, Fan, City, Jodrinsky, Wet, Shivera Steppe, Shivera Discord.
The Jodrinsky threshold will also be inspected, during the inspection we will make a snack.
We will get to the parking lot without reaching the threshold of the Turbine for several kilometers.

DAY 6

We are waiting for two key thresholds of the lower Chui - Turbine and Tourclub Horizon, both thresholds of the 5th category of difficulty.
We'll get to Turbinny's doorstep, inspect him, put up insurance. After passing almost immediately the threshold of the Tourclub Horizon, it is also inspected, put up insurance and pass. After 6 km we reach the mouth of Chui and get up to the parking lot.
Lunch.

We climb to the observation deck above the merger of Chui and Katuni, it offers a beautiful view of the mixing of two powerful streams. From this day on, the escort car leaves us and then we will take our belongings on catamarans.

DAY 7

From the mouth of Chui we go to the village of Maly Yaloman, where we replenish our bread and arrange lunch. Then after a couple of hours we will reach the threshold of Ilgumensky (4 cs), examine it and set the trajectory. We're on the threshold with mutual insurance. After 30 minutes after passing the threshold, we stand in a parking lot at the mouth of the Ailagush River.

DAY 8

Day.
Resting. Before lunch, we will walk along Katun to the Kadrin River, see the exit threshold of 5 cs. Together, we'll build a stone and flood the bath. In the evening, the bath will warm up and steam prepared brooms.

DAY 9

Immediately after the parking, the Kadrinskaya Pipe threshold begins - 5 km of cheerful Shivers with a closing threshold Sack 3 cs. After another hour and a half we reach the threshold of Sabbath 4 cs, it is necessary to inspect, assess the water level and the size of the “blanket”. We pass with mutual insurance both stages of the threshold. After another hour we will reach the mouth of the river Sumulta, where we will have lunch.
After lunch, we will pass the Kayanchin Shivers (three pieces) and stand near the threshold of Ayal.

DAY 10

We will pass the threshold of Ayala (2 cs), in an hour we will be at the beautiful Beltirtirtyuk waterfall, where we will stop. Then we will reach the village of Kuyus, where we will go for fresh bread and other products, there and have lunch.

After lunch we will find the most beautiful threshold of Teldekpen - 1, the narrowest and deepest place on the middle Katun. Very interesting and unusual threshold. Immediately followed by the threshold of Teldekpen - 2, it is quickly inspected and pass with cheerful rides.

We pass the threshold of Biyk (2 cs), then reaching the threshold of Yelandinsky (3 cs) examine it. It is small, but you can set various interesting paths that we will try to withstand.
Then we will reach the campground, where there is an antistapel and a bath.

DAY 11

In the morning we take buses and go to Barnaul. On the way, we stop at the fair in Pos. The place where we buy souvenirs. In Biysk, we go to the dining room for lunch and to the garage to repack from herms to backpacks to pick up things that we did not need on the hike.
