"Gold of Altai", excursion tour

The first day of the "Legendary Chuysky tract". Kilometer ~350 km. Travel time is ~ 8 hours.

Meeting of the group at the airport of Gorno-Altaisk. You will find a fascinating excursion "Legendary Chuysky tract" along the main highway of the Altai Mountains. Right from the path opens chic panoramas. It is rich in sights, legends and has a rich ancient history, which our guides will tell you. During the tour, we will climb the Seminsky high mountain pass, where we will see centuries-old cedars, majestic mountains with small snowballs on tops, learn the history of the Altai people’s entry into Russia. At the pass, we will make a half-hour stop, during which you can visit the fair of Mongolian goods and souvenirs, buy Altai products (honey, herbal teas, pine nuts).

Continuing the tour along the Chui tract, we will climb the serpentine to the high mountain pass Chike-Taman (1460 m) with two observation platforms and a view of the eastern slopes of the Terekta ridge. We will find out where in the past centuries the old wheeled Chuisky tract passed.

Next, we will continue the movement along the picturesque valley of Katun and the “Katun Loop” – a beautiful bend of Katun among the rocks of Small Yaloman. We will see and learn how and when the ancient “Katun Terraces” were formed.

We will make a small excursion to the ancient cult complex of the Bronze Age "Inin steles" (III-II millennium BC).

We will walk to the sacred place for the Altaians - the mouth of the Chui River - the meeting place of two large rivers of the Altai Mountains, which, merging, flow for some time with a pronounced color boundary.

Day two of the Steppe Spaces. Kilometer ~ 60 km. Travel time is ~7 hours.

Easy walk to the mysterious Blue Lake (Geysernoye), which you can admire endlessly. A unique and amazing lake "paints" patterns on the bottom. Moving further along the Chui tract through the Kurai and Chui steppes. Directly from the road there are unforgettable views of the glaciers of the North Chui Ridge (Aktra, Kurkurek). We visit the amazing valley with colored lands of Kyzyl-Chin, which is called “Altai Mars” because of unusual red rocks.

Overnight in Aktash.

Day three of the Kamikaze Highway. Kilometer ~ 60 km. Travel time is ~ 6 hours.

Excursion to the valley of the Chuya River (Majoy cascades) is a place where competitions of watermen-extremes are held. Here are the thresholds of the highest 6th category of difficulty in water sports.

Walk to the Ular Falls.

Day four of Altai Gold. Kilometer ~ 100 km. Travel time is ~ 8 hours.

Excursion to the Katu-Yaryk pass. We drive along the Ulagan Highway, through the Red Gate, along the way we will see many alpine lakes (Dead Lake, Kedel, Uch-Kel, etc.), Ulagansky Pass. On the way, a small stop in the Pazyryk tract, inspection of the Scythian mounds, which brought the tract world fame.

From the observation deck of the Katu-Yaryk Pass there is a grandiose view of the Chulyshman Valley and the surrounding mountains from a height of about 800 m.

Day five "Goodbye, Altai." Kilometer ~350 km. Travel time is ~ 8 hours.

Breakfast, packing. Returning back to Gorno-Altaisk. Lunch at a cafe on the way.

Route thread: Gorno-Altaisk - Chui tract - Geyser lake - Altai Mars - Katu-Yaryk pass - Majoi canyon - Ular waterfalls - Gorno-Altaisk

Tour format: car with radial exits.

Difficulty of the tour: easy.

Age restriction: from 6 to 70 years. The tour is not recommended for children under 6 years of age due to the intensive program and long journeys. However, if you think your child is ready for such a journey physically and emotionally, you can take them on tour.

Group size: The tour will take place when recruiting a group of 4 people. The maximum number of participants in the group is 10 people.

The length of the motor part of the route: 1200 km, of which 250 km of mountain off-road.
