"Pink Lake" (excursion to the lotuses of Komarov)

In total, there are four types of lotuses in the world: yellow, nut-bearing, Caspian and Far Eastern, which is called the Komarov lotus in honor of the famous botanist.

Lotus Komarova is a tropical species, a relic that has come down to us since prehistoric, preglacial times. The estimated age of this species is about 100 million years. The lotus has adapted to our harsh winters, withstands temperatures up to -40 degrees, provided that the temperature of the silt in which the root lies is not lower than +4, and on the shore without water - up to -30. The root of the lotus can reach 300 m, and the flower itself - about 30 cm, the leaves - from 20 to 100 cm. Thanks to the wax coating, the leaves are not moistened with water, and the drops are rolled onto them with brilliant balls.

The flowers have a very delicate smell and are constantly facing the sun, turning after its movement across the sky. Komarov lotus blooms for only a month - from the end of July to the beginning of September.

Lotus Komarova is listed in the Red Book. In the Far East, it grows in natural conditions in the Primorsky, Khabarovsk territories and in the Amur region.

Bright, memorable excursion to the Lotus Lake is one of the most interesting excursions in Khabarovsk. We're not going to Galkino.
