Khanty-Mansiysk

Park "Archeopark" in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk

Khanty-Mansiysk, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra, Russia

Description:

Archaeopark is a cultural and tourist complex. It is a landmark of the city of Khanty-Mansiysk. It is recognized as a branch of the City Museum of Nature and Man.

In the archaeopark there is also a sculpture park, which depicts animals of the Pleistocene time and Paleolithic people.

The idea of the park embodies the history of biological, geological, and human development. The landscape of the park is built on the contrast of a vertical mountain and an artificially created stall, which recreates the relief of the Pleistocene plains. The retaining mound from the erosion of the remains harmoniously combines both these components.

In 2007, the first group of sculptures of seven mammoth figures was installed on the mound. The opening of the archaeopark took place in 2008. And in 2009, the sculptural groups "Mammoths" - a group of 11 sculptures, "Wolf pack" - a group of 4 animal sculptures, "Primitive man's Parking" - a group of 8 figures of people and housing and many others.

The Archeopark is one of the main tourist sites of Khanty-Mansiysk and a favorite place of rest for citizens.
