Classic sightseeing tour of Irkutsk

Our tour will begin from the heart of the city of Irkutsk, at the confluence of the rivers Irkut and Angara, it was here that the formation of the city began.

In 1661 the Irkutsk prison was founded. On the site of the prison, we will see the oldest stone building in Irkutsk - the Spasskaya Church. It contains many particles of holy relics. Interesting outdoor frescoes.

Near the church we will see a monument to Peter and Fevronia of Murom. You will learn their history and the stories of other saints revered in Siberia.

Next, we are waiting for the second oldest temple of the city - the Epiphany Cathedral and the building in the neo-Gothic style - the Polish Church.

After it, we will get acquainted with the monument to the founders of Siberia and walk along the embankment to the Moscow Gate - a wonderful triumphal arch.

On the way to the Kirov Square you will see the most beautiful merchant houses, the first telegraph, wooden “lace” houses – masterpieces of architects.

You will learn the history of the formation of the main square of the city.

Next we will reach the Znamensky Cathedral, founded in 1693. Now it is the center of the Irkutsk diocese. Here the relics of St. Innocent of Kulchitsky are kept.

After that, we will get acquainted with the central street of the city of Karl Marx, the former Bolshoi. Some of the buildings: the hotel where Anton Pavlovich Chekhov lived, the Russian-Asian Bank (1910), the Okhlopkov Drama Theater (1894), the Irkutsk Regional Museum (1883).

We will walk with you along the favorite place of rest for guests and residents of the city - the embankment of the Angara River. Here is the famous monument of architecture and history of Irkutsk - the White House, as well as a monument to Alexander III.

We'll end our little trip in the 130th block. The quarter represents Siberian wooden buildings of the 19th century. Some houses have been restored, some have been moved from other areas of the region. There are souvenir shops, pottery, blacksmith workshops, a modern shopping center, a planetarium, many cafes and restaurants for every taste.
