Hiking on the Great Baikal Trail

The feeling of complete freedom and “forest in the palm” begins with the first ascent. You walk along a soft, strewn with needles path, inhale the tar aroma of red-hot pines, and on the left, behind the cliff, the blue canvas of Baikal is poured at full power. There is no noise of cars - only the scream of gulls, the splash of waves and the silence of tall trees. The contrasts of the relief make the heart beat more often: you just climbed up the slope, and an hour later you go straight to the water on a pebble beach.

It's a pure adventure that changes the perception of fatigue. By the evening, the legs are buzzing with endless ups and downs, but when you put a tent under the pines and open a can of stew, it is an aesthetic of complete happiness. Swimming in icy (even in July!) water is both a shock and a high!

I propose to go on an active hiking trip along the Great Baikal Trail. The trail runs along the west coast of Oz. Baikal, from P. Listvyanka in P. B. Cats. 20 km go along the mountain path, with climbs and descents, and reaching the end point in B. Kotakh, we return to Listvyanka by speedboat.

• trail of medium complexity, unequipped with infrastructure, includes climbs, descents, areas with roots and small obstacles, requires endurance

• boat trip from B. Kotov to Listvyanka (1200 rubles) or comet to Irkutsk (2200 rubles)

The trip may be cancelled in the case of:

• adverse weather conditions (rains of 10 mm W, wind gusts of 12 m / s and more)
• introduction of fire control in the forests of Listvyanka district III hazard class
