Tunkin Valley - to comprehend Zen

What is Zen?

Drink tea, eat rice, spend your time naturally, admire the sky, admire the mountains. What a serene calm and feeling!

Tunkin Valley is a place where you can learn Zen. It is a relatively small and cozy valley stretching from east to west between the sharp Tunkin Gols and the lower peaks of Hamar Daban.

The tour is held all year round. At every time of the year, Tunkin Valley is beautiful!

We are traveling in a prepared expedition SUV. This will allow us to deviate from the “trodden” tourist routes and visit interesting places.

Number of participants: 1-3 people.
If necessary, additional cars are involved (for groups from 3 to 12 people) with experienced driver guides.

Preliminary program (adjusted depending on weather conditions and time of year):

• Early departure from Irkutsk (from hotel, airport, railway station or pre-agreed address).
• Transfer to the Tunkin valley through the Olkhin plateau in Kultuk p. on the southwestern tip of Lake Baikal (90 km). In Kultuk we stop for a light snack. It is possible to visit the Baikal fish market. Smoked, salted omul, whitefish, golomyanka, sagudai, caviar, taiga tea, pine nut, seal fat and much more interesting. On the way back, you can buy fish with you to Irkutsk.
• From Kultuk we turn to the road leading to the Tunkin Valley and further to Mongolia.
• Next, we move along the road, coming to interesting places.
• On the tourist menu of the day:

- handsome Irkut. We'll stop at D. Fast.
- stunning views of the Tunkin chars
- Mineral springs p. Arshan
- Hoymor datsan (Buddhist temple) "Bodhidharma"
- Souvenir market in Arshan
- extinct volcano Hara Boldok
- Lunch with dishes of Buryat cuisine (buuzes, bukhleor, shulen, tsuyvan, etc.) in the HSE locality
- Datsan "Tushite" in p.Kyren
- beautiful spots for photography and relaxation on the bank of the river. Irkut on the route
- Force seats
- the most beautiful gorge of the river Ihe-Uhgun
- datsan "Burhan Baabai", located at the sacred mountain Sagaan Khairkhan
- Irkut rolls at Monda p.

• In the evening, we turn back and return to Irkutsk, sharing the impressions of the day, enjoying the road and views outside the window.

What to take with you on the road?

Paperwork, personal expenses. Mobile phone, in the charging machine there are wires Lighting 8 pin, USB type C, micro and mini USB.

If you are shooting, do not forget the camera, spare batteries and other necessary equipment.

How to dress?

We recommend when ordering a tour to consult on equipment with a guide. The weather in the Baikal region is variable, so it is important to follow certain recommendations. Do not hurt sunglasses, protective cream.
