To see, feel with your feet and hear the same ice cracking under your feet. Do you think this is too extreme? Every winter, despite the cold and wind, hundreds of people go on an ice hike along Baikal with us. It's not the easiest route. It passes through deserted places, and a day you need to overcome 15-20 kilometers on foot. Add to this the load behind you that you need to pull behind you - things on a sleigh of rods. And no dining room, no comfortable hotel. Just ice, some incredibly good fatigue, sleeping in tents and quiet conversations around the campfire while cooking. It would seem that such tests as physical exertion and severe weather conditions are only possible for avid hikers.

But do not be afraid: if you follow the instructions of the guides and morally prepare for overnight stays in the tent, then the hike will be truly unforgettable. There will be a lot of unusual sensations from the ice. He makes a lot of sounds. In the morning, when the sun comes out, and in the evening, when it sets, the ice shrinks or expands. When the layers collide, there is a sound as if somewhere far away fired a gun - deaf and rolling. And then there's a slight buzz on the surface around you. You don’t know where the ice is cracking, but you can hear sounds in the distance. And cracks can slip between the legs quickly, like a snake. The ice is always alive. Near the shores, around the lake is another picture: frozen rivers and waterfalls, huge icicles hanging from the rocks, ice caves and grottoes, bizarre sculptures of ice. Everything froze and froze. Time has stopped.

One of the nights we will spend in the house, which was built specifically for the filming of the film “In the forests of Siberia”, based on the novel by the French writer and traveler Sylvain Tasson. Inside everything is quite simple - made of wood, there is a stove, but most importantly - heat. At the end of the trip, many fears will dispel like smoke. All the inconveniences and trials that have to be endured were worth the gift that gives us.
