Grandma Bay
Russia, Irkutsk region, Lake Baikal
Description:
The Baikal Riviera. This is how locals call the bay “Grandmother” near Irkutsk. Beautiful but inaccessible bay in the south-west of Lake Baikal. The territory is protected, as it is part of the Baikal National Park. The soil of the sandy composition also caused natural vegetation: powerful pines and cedars, lichens, alder and baguli.
But the harsh Siberian nature is painted with sandy beaches. It's an open lake. Therefore, amateurs will be able to do this only in the second half of the summer and then not for long.
Tourists will definitely be attracted by the Cedar of Courage, standing on a rock, and stilted trees. The wind swept sand from under their roots, forming voids between which a person can pass.
Since this is a protected area, it is strictly forbidden to burn bonfires and set tent camps here. There is no car entrance to the bay. Expensive ends long before it. Then on foot along the coast or by the ship "Irkutsk-Bukhta Peschanaya".
