Volcano Valley

Description:

The Valley of Volcanoes is a unique natural monument located in the Republic of Buryatia, in the valley of the Hikushki River, 600 km from Irkutsk.
More recently, a couple of thousand years ago, when a volcano erupted, lava spread across the valley, which froze with a 150-meter basalt layer decorated with mountain lakes. Among the lava valley there are two volcanoes - Kropotkina and Peretolchin.

The volcano is named after the explorer-traveler who died tragically there in 1914. At the bottom of its crater there is a beautiful lake 40 meters deep. The slopes of the volcano cover larch and spruce.

The Kropotkin volcano, the younger of them, is quite dangerous for tourists, since it has many deep cracks on its slopes, formed as a result of cracking of frozen lava.
