East Sayan Ridge

Republic of Tyva, Russia 159 km Yu

Description:

Eastern Sayan is a system of mountain ranges located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, from the left bank of the Yenisei to the coast of Baikal. Its length is more than 1000 kilometers.

The relief of the massif is quite diverse: there are both high-mountainous areas (Big Sayan, Tunkin Golts, Kitoi Golts), and aligned relief and volcanic plateaus. Geographically, the area is very picturesque. Mountain rivers, forests and alpine meadows attract tourists from all over the country.

You can get there on your own or as part of a tour group. Routes to East Sayan go in the south-west of the Irkutsk region through the cities of Slyudyanka and Nizhneudinsk. From Irkutsk you can drive from the Tunkin valley.
