Lake Hara-Nur
Khara-Nur, Republic of Buryatia, Russia 0.1 m S
Description:
At the intersection of the Big Sayan and the Okina Range in Buryatia, Lake Khara-Nur stretches, which means “black lake” from the Mongolian language. The lake appeared due to its proximity to the Valley of Volcanoes. After the eruption, lava flows blocked the Jombolok River, which contributed to the formation of the reservoir. The lake has the shape of the letter G and is located at an altitude of more than 1.5 kilometers above sea level.
Tourists are primarily attracted by the accessible peaks of the Hee Gol Valley surrounding the lake with many routes and small mountain lakes. Here you can enjoy the views of the waterfalls of Hara-Nur. The lake is rich in fish, so lovers of fishing when rafting catch garius or nalima here. And some organizers of expeditions offer a crossing on horseback.
