Monument to Alexander Pushkin
ooh October Revolution, 7, Irkutsk, Irkutsk region 664007, Russian Federation
Description:
In 2010, a monument to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was inaugurated in Irkutsk. The idea appeared a few years earlier, but its implementation took time. The creative artist was the famous sculptor Mikhail Pereyaslavets.
The monument is made in the form of a massive bust of the poet on a pedestal of granite. On the obelisk immortalized the famous line of Pushkin “In the depth of the Siberian ores...”
It is symbolic that it was in Irkutsk in 1827 that Princess Alexandra Muravyov brought this work. The poet personally handed it to a woman who was going into exile for her husband.
The monument is located next to the supermarket "Bagira". Located against the background of a painting by local artist Vladimir Kuzmin, it was in this place that the house in which Muravyova lived was previously located.
The obelisk was created and installed with funds received from charity.
