Monument to L. Gaidai

The monument to Leonid Gaidai, the famous director of cult Soviet comedies, is located in the central part of the city of Irkutsk (on the Labor Square near the circus).

This is not just a monument, but a whole sculptural group. It depicts the shooting of a scene from one film. Gaidai himself sits on a chair, and opposite him are magnificent Coward, Experienced and Stupid.

The monument was opened in 2012 at the expense of sponsors for the 90th anniversary of the great director. The authors of the architectural structure are Mironov, Serikov and Demkov. All the sculptures are cast in bronze.

The location of the monument is also not accidental. On the streets of Irkutsk, the director spent most of his life, began his film path. Passing by, people as if get on the set and watch what is happening on it. The effect of presence is possible thanks to two sculptural monuments. This is a favorite vacation spot for locals.
