Description:

The Cathedral of Epiphany is a landmark not only of Irkutsk, but also of all Siberia. The beauty and grandeur of the building attracts the attention of travelers, believers and lovers of art and history.

Initially, a wooden church was built in 1693 by prisoners of the prison on the Angara embankment, which was called the Peter and Paul Church. For three hundred years the temple suffered a fire, was reconstructed and repeatedly rebuilt. Today it is a magnificent Epiphany Cathedral.

The cathedral impresses with its external design: it is decorated with ceramic tiles, inside is decorated with paintings of saints. Its appearance is often compared to a fabulous gingerbread house. There is an indescribable atmosphere of beauty and comfort.

The church is located at 1a Suhe Batora. Near the square "At the eternal fire".
