BAIKAL'S WINTER ICE

Baikal in winter is an endless abyss of ice, and the rocks protruding from the water column are like wonderful castles with ornate patterns. It is the deepest lake on the planet and the largest natural source of fresh water.

We will visit two pearls of Baikal - Listvyanka village and Olkhon island. We will make an incredible trip on hovercraft on the ice of Lake Baikal. We will see with you the confluence of the Angara River and Lake Baikal.

TOUR PROGRAMME

DAY 1

It is necessary to arrive in Irkutsk before 10.00 on the first day of the tour or a day earlier to sleep and rest from the flight.

There are many inexpensive hostels and hotels in Irkutsk. At 10 a.m., we meet you in the central square or at the airport, load things into the minibus and head to the shores of the largest freshwater lake in the world.

In the village of Listvyanka, we will go to the stone of Chersky - a mountain 755 meters high. This is the observation deck. You can climb the mountain either by road or by cable car, which is very popular in winter. You will see Baikal from a height, before you will be presented the place of confluence of the Angara River and Lake Baikal. We will have lunch and go for a walk on the ice of Baikal.

Closer to sunset, we will go on high-speed Khivus to plow the ice, pass the source of the Angara, KBZD, two tunnels, at sunset we will take bright pictures.

In the evening we will return to Irkutsk and stay in a hotel.

DAY 2

After breakfast, we are on our way to Ethnopark Golden Horde - here we will fully immerse ourselves and get acquainted with the Buryat culture, whose population has long lived around Lake Baikal.

DAY 3

From Khuzhir we go to the other shore of the island of Baikal to the extreme point of Olkhon Island, Cape Khoboy, famous for its ice grottoes and huge fields of hummocks.

We will explore the ice grottoes, visit an island with gull nests.

At sunset, we will visit Cape Burkhan - this is the visiting card of Baikal. A holy place for shamans and Buddhists. According to legend, the supreme deity of the island lives in the rock adorning the cape.

DAY 4

Today we have an early awakening, because we are going to meet the light on the ice of Baikal.

We get into off-road cars and go to Clean Ice to see all the wild beauty of Baikal without unauthorized people!

The target is the small uninhabited island of Ogoi. It is famous for the Buddhist Stupa of Enlightenment. All this time we drive along the Small Sea - the strait between Olkhon Island and the mainland.

DAY 5

At lunch, we leave on a transfer to Irkutsk.
