Hotels of Kirov We are ready to receive guests at a high level. The city has a large number of hotels and mini-hotels.
The foundation of modern Kirov is associated with the construction on Vyatka, at the mouth of the Khlynovitsa River (modern Khlynovka), the Khlynov fortress. Along with this name, the city was also called Vyatka. At the end of the 14th century, Khlynov was in the possession of the Suzdal-Nizhny Novgorod princes, and at the beginning of the 15th century - Galician princes. Since 1457, the city has been known as a local center of crafts and trade. It was annexed to the Moscow state in 1489. Since the end of the 17th century, written sources about Vyatka are known - "The Life of Tryphon Vyatsky", chronicles "The Tale of the Vyatskaya Country", "The Chronicler of the Old Years". Since 1708, Khlynov was part of the Simbirsk province, from 1727 he was part of the Kazan province. In 1796, Khlynov was finally renamed Vyatka and became the center of the Vyatka governorship. Pre-revolutionary Vyatka was a city of manufacturing, most enterprises were associated with the processing of agricultural raw materials. For a long time, Vyatka was known as a city of political exile, A. I. Herzen, M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin, architect A. L. Vitberg lived here. In 1934, the city was renamed Kirov in honor of S. M. Kirov, a native of the Vyatka province. Since 1936, Kirov is the center of the Kirov region.
The tradition of the Dymkovo toy, which arose in the settlement of Dymkovo (now part of the Zarechny district of Kirov) and became over time the most famous of the Russian clay crafts, is associated with folk festivals, where whistles sculpted from clay were sold. The fishery, which is about 300 years old, is developing, the forms and painting of ladies, turkeys, deer, whistles are being improved. Thanks to the Dymkov toy, Kirov shares with Paleh, Khokhloma, Ustyug and Vologda the glory of a large center of folk art.
In the old part of Kirov, located on the high left bank of Vyatka, architectural monuments are preserved, testifying to the history of the city. In the central part of the old city, a rectangular street scheme is preserved. To the south of the former fortress, on the slope of the Zasorsky ravine there is a complex of temple monuments - Trifonov Monastery with the five-domed Assumption Cathedral (1864-1889). The interior of the cathedral is interesting with a large five-tier iconostasis with ancient icons (restored in the late 19th century), a painting by Palekh masters of the late 19th century. The ensemble of the monastery includes the gate St. Nicholas Church (1690-1695), the abbot and cells (1719), the Annunciation Church (1728) and the Tri-Sacred Church (1717).
To the north of the former fortress there is an ensemble of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Novodevichy Monastery (1624) with an elegant stone Savior-Transfiguration Church (1696). To the north-west of the fortress is the Posadskaya church of John the Forerunner (the first half of the 18th century), repeatedly rebuilt in the 18th-19th centuries. The Church of John the Forerunner is distinguished by a kind of twisted "horns" of window casings.
On the territory of the old city center, a large number of monuments of civil architecture have been preserved - the buildings of the former Order Chamber (1740-1770), two buildings of the Presence Places (1787-1790), made in the style of classicism. Among the buildings designed by the architect A. L. Vitberg, a complex of park structures (1835-1839) stands out, in the southern part of the city according to his project, a large eclectic Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built (completed in 1848). In the late 18th and first half of the 19th century, numerous buildings in the style of classicism and empire (stone and wooden mansions) were built according to the projects of F. Roslyakov, I. Düsor de Neville. In the late 19th - early 20th century, according to the projects of local architect I. A. Charushin, shopping arcades, eclectic mansions, wooden residential houses with blank carvings or overhead ornament, administrative buildings were built. In the vicinity of Kirov, near the former settlement of Dymkovo, there is a village of Makarye, interesting elegant Trinity Church, built in 1770-1775 in the Baroque style.
Kirov is a concentration of museums, many of which are associated with the names of famous artists, writers, architects, whose life and work are associated with the city on Vyatka. The museum "Vyatka folk art crafts" is popular, located in the restored building of the Order hut. The exposition of the museum is devoted to the history and modern development of traditional art crafts of the Vyatka Territory. Here are the masters of work of the 18-20 centuries on lace, clay, pine root, embroidery, weaving. Among the exhibits of the museum are wooden pocket watches of Bronnikov masters, the work of artels-capers, a Dymkovsky toy by A. Mezrina, E. Penkina, E. Koshkina, Kukar lace. In 1910, one of the oldest art museums in Russia was opened in Vyatka - the Art Museum named after V. M. and A. M. Vasnetsov, located in the building of the early 19th century (architect - I. Dusor de Neville). The museum exhibits ancient icons, collections of Russian and Western European painting. Among the literary museums of Kirov is the Museum of M.
