From Vyatka to Kirov

The city, now called Kirov, since 1374 bore the name of Vyatka. After the construction of the city Kremlin in the XV century on the tributary of the Vyatka River Khlynovka, it became known as Khlynov. Then the Great Catherine renamed it back to Vyatka. And after the death of a communist - a native of the Vyatka land S.M. Kirov (Kostrikov), the city "at the request of workers" in 1934 was renamed Kirov. But this circumstance did not erase any of its events from the history of the city. And there have been many in 650 years. And they were very different and interesting.
