Description:

Trifonov Monastery is the oldest monastery in the territory of the Vyatka Territory. It arose thanks to the monk of the Pyskor monastery – the Monk Tryphon, who wrote from five Vyatka cities a celobite tsar – Ivan the Terrible. In June 1580, the Tsar issued Triphon a charter for construction.

Thanks to donations, 4 temples were built on the territory of the monastery: Uspensky, Annunciation, Nikolsky and John the Precursor. At the beginning of the XVII century, 14 cells for monks, a bell tower and outbuildings were built. The monastery has a library, which has more than 140 books: liturgical, lives of saints, teachings.

During the reign of Catherine II, the monastery suffered significant damage. In 1764, most of the monastery lands were recognized as state property. In 1790, under Paul I, the best lands were returned to the possession of the monastery. In the twentieth century, the monastery has a small brethren - 15-20 people.

In September 1918, the Assumption Men's Tryfonov Monastery was liquidated, in 1929 it was finally taken away from the faithful.
