Afanasievsky District Museum of Local Lore

In the autumn of 1985, Vyacheslav Viktorovich Samartsev was appointed as the first secretary of the district committee of the party. At one of the meetings of the veteran lecture hall, he suggested that Afanasievsky district, which has preserved a significant part of its traditions and ancient foundations, should have its own local history museum.

On December 6, 1988, the day of the formation of the district party organization, the first hall “The establishment and strengthening of Soviet power in the Zyuzdinsky Territory” was opened in the local history museum. The official opening took place on the basis of Order No. 20 of the Department of Culture of the Afanasievsky District Executive Committee on March 26, 1989.

Currently, the funds number more than 16,000 units. There are 5 permanent exhibition halls: “Nature of the native land”, “Old”, “Archaeology”, “Combat glory of countrymen”, “First five-year plans”. During the year, more than 20 temporary exhibitions are arranged in the museum. In 2022, 16,932 people used museum services of various forms.
