House-Museum of the Artist N.N.Khokhryakov

As part of the Vasnetsov Ring program, on June 12, 1998 the House-Museum of the Artist N.N. Khokhryakov was opened for visitors. Since 2008 it is the Museum-estate of N.N. Khoryakov.

Nikolai Nikolaevich Khokhryakov is a Vyatka artist who studied with I.I. Shishkin, who was at the origins of the creation of an art and historical museum in the city of Vyatka. He spent more than 20 years of his life serving the museum. The funds of the Vyatka Art Museum store the artist’s paintings, his etching drawings, road albums. Most of the artist’s picturesque heritage is landscapes that convey the discreet beauty of Vyatka nature.

The house-museum of the artist N. N. Khokhryakov is a monument of history and culture of regional significance. The building has preserved an enfilade layout characteristic of civil architecture of the first half of the XIX century. The permanent exhibition includes paintings, sketches, graphic works by N. N. Khokhryakov, as well as photographs and memorial items that recreate the atmosphere of the house in which the master lived and worked. On the estate there is a rotunda gazebo, built in 2008 by G. Y. Lopatin. Every year on December 19, the day of memory of Nikolai Nikolayevich, the museum gathers people who are especially dear to the artist’s work.

The museum hosts excursions, master classes, events with elements of theatricalization, creative meetings with artists, musical evenings, exhibitions are organized, the Museum Center for Creative Development operates.
