About the company:

Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore is the first museum created in the Vyatka province, one of the oldest in Russia. In 2021, the institution celebrated its 155th anniversary.

The museum was founded in 1866 on the initiative of the prominent Russian statesman and public figure P.V. Alabin. The creation of the first public museum on Vyatka became a truly nationwide affair: representatives of all estates of the province and its surroundings participated in the collection of donations. By personal order of Emperor Alexander II, the Vyatka Museum received a collection of minerals and rocks. Some of these exhibits can still be seen today in the local history museum.

Over the long history, the collections have collected the richest material on the history, ethnography, culture and nature of the Vyatka Territory and Russia: more than 253 thousand exhibits.

In 2022, the museum was named after its founder P.V. Alabin.

Kirov Regional Museum of Local Lore is the center of local history, the guardian of the material and spiritual culture of the region as part of the national wealth of Russia.
