Unique temples of Kolomna
Description:
This tour is for those who have already visited Kolomna or who want to see truly masterpieces of Russian temple architecture that are not included in the main program. These temples are far from the main tourist routes, but they are worthy of admiration.
The Church of John the Forerunner of the XIV century is one of the rare preserved churches of that era in Russia, covered with legends, with a unique stone seal of Batu and original ancient Russian architecture with many "highlights".
The Temple of Epiphany in the Potters. Located in an ancient pottery settlement. This is the only temple of Kolomna, which has never been closed and has preserved authentic frescoes of the XVII century. It is closely connected with the fate of St. Philaret.
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Shchurov is unique in its architecture, the rarest in Russia: it is a neo-Byzantine temple. This is how it was built in the earliest centuries of Christianity. And inside now everything is laid out in mosaics according to the Greek canons. Around the church there was a whole town: an Orthodox gymnasium, a children's shelter, a rehabilitation center for the disabled, a children's playground and even a mini-zoo.
