Russia, Moscow region, Kolomna, str. 11 Golutvinskaya
Description:
The Epiphany Old Golutvin Monastery is an effective Orthodox male monastery located on the outskirts of the city of Kolomna, in a picturesque place near the confluence of the Moscow and Oka rivers. It was founded at the end of the XIV century thanks to Sergius of Radonezh, who not only initiated the construction of the monastery, but also chose the place and laid the first stone, which is still revered as the "stones of the monk."
On the territory of the monastery until its closure in 1929 by the Soviet authorities there was a holy spring, which was later filled up. The monastery buildings were returned to the Orthodox Church in 1994, since then restoration work and regular services have been carried out.
