Skinh Manor
Description:
Manor Shkin is located in the village of Shkin Kolomensky district of the Moscow region. The estate belonged to G.I. Bibikov, a representative of the highest capital nobility. At the expense of G.I. Bibikov, a magnificent temple of the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles was erected in Shkini. The temple was built at the end of the XVIII century. It is still unknown exactly who is the architect of this temple, there is an assumption that it was designed by R.R. Kazakov. Nowadays, the temple is all that remains of the once rich estate of G.I. Bibikov. The similarity of the temple in Shkini with the cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg is striking.
In 1936 the temple was closed. In the 1960s, it stored toxic chemicals intended for agricultural purposes. In the 1990s, a gradual restoration of the shrine began. Currently, the temple is active, work on its restoration continues. Near the temple is the grave of the local revered fool Danilushka - D.I. Vasiliev.
The stone temple was built in the style of Moscow classicism. It has two symmetrically located bell towers, two chapels are attached to the temple. The altar part of the temple is surrounded by a colonnade. The interior and decoration of the temple are not preserved. Around the church you can see the remains of a stone fence, the remains of stone supports of an ancient bridge across the Severka River are preserved. In the vicinity of the church there are 2 dilapidated stone buildings. What it is, we don't know exactly. There is an opinion that these, presumably, can be the remains of the manor buildings of G.I. Bibikov.
