Kolomna Kremlin

Description:

Kolomna Kremlin - a unique monument of architecture and fortification of the first half of the XVI century, suffered during the Troubles, and many towers and parts of the walls were deliberately dismantled by decree of Emperor Paul. At the end of the XIX century, the Moscow Archaeological Society undertook the first scientific restoration of the Kolomna (Marinkina) tower and part of the wall, but it was not possible to completely complete the restoration of the fortress. In 2013, the Kolomna Kremlin became one of the ten visual symbols of Russia, reaching the final of the contest “Russia 10”, and today, the city hall approved a project for the reconstruction of the missing fragments of the fortress walls, the Sviblovaya and Borisoglebsky towers, the Ivanovo and Oblique gates, as well as the improvement of the territory inside the Kremlin. According to the project, on the territory it is planned to build a new building of the museum of Kolomna, designed in a red-brick style, in harmony with the material of the Kremlin walls, as well as to organize recreation areas for guests and residents of the city.
