What to see in Kostroma
Description:
Friends! If you are in Kostroma for the first time, in addition to a sightseeing tour of the city, I highly recommend you to visit your favorite places. First of all, the drama theater named after A.N. Ostrovsky. Kostromichi adore their theater (one of the oldest in Russia), there is always a sold-out, each generation has its favorite actors.
How cozy in the theater!
The chandeliers aren't out yet.
Come and take your seats quickly.
Here the Snow Maiden will be judged by Berendei.
I recommend enthusiastic theatergoers to look behind the scenes of Kostroma theaters (the Theatre Kostroma program is at your service).
If you are traveling with children, the best solution is to visit Kostroma zoos and reserves:
- Sumarokov lose farm (the reserve staff will tell you many funny stories from the life of these amazing animals),
Contact zoo "Exotarium" (a very warm place, animals are kept clean, the staff will answer any question). Animals are small, but very diverse: parrots, exotic frogs, lizards, snakes, rodents, there are loris and carp that can be fed by hand,
- Kostroma Zoo (a small but cozy zoo in the forest on the way out of the city, rabbits run freely throughout the territory),
- Husky nursery (near Kostroma there are several such nurseries, here you can communicate with animals, raft along the river with them or ride dog sleds).
Also for young guests of the city will be interesting a variety of thematic master classes: you can prepare chocolate delicacies according to ancient recipes or real Kostroma cheese, make a whistle or plate from clay (and in parallel learn a lot about the original Kostroma clay toy and craft potters), paint a Christmas tree toy (of course, an authentic Kostroma painting), make a ceremonial doll-insomnia in the Museum of flax and birch trees. Or maybe you yourself have long dreamed of sculpting on a potter’s wheel, trying yourself in the role of a real blacksmith or painting a picture with oil? Or maybe you decide to cook the famous Kostroma shchi on the fire yourself? Do you want to feel like a kostromich for a day?
And if you come to Kostroma for the holidays, you can visit an interactive museum program, for example, "Noble Christmas". By the way, this program takes place in the luxurious halls of the building of the former Noble Assembly - another Kostroma landmark. Here in 1913, Nicholas II danced at a ball on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov House. Until now, concerts, evenings and historical balls are arranged here. Are you going to the prom?
The most curious will like production excursions to Kostroma factories and factories. Do you want to visit the largest linen factory in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, see the fabrics that were delivered to the imperial court, visit the real weaving shop, where jacquard patterns will be born before your eyes (which will then go for export to Ikea)? Are you more interested in jewelry technology? Come to Kostroma, everyone will find something for themselves, and I will help you with this!
