The cost of a Schengen visa for Russians in 2024 may increase

For adult applicants, it is proposed to raise the fee from the current 80 euros to 90 euros. For children, the visa fee may be 45 euros instead of the current 40.

This week, the relevant bill was published on the website of the European Commission. The need to raise prices is explained by inflation. The changes will affect those countries with which there is no agreement on a simplified procedure for entering the European Union, that is, including Russia.

Separately, the document published on the website of the European Commission notes that visa centers that collect applications for a Schengen visa on behalf of EU member states will also be able to raise prices for their services. Thus, the maximum service fee will increase from 40 to 45 euros.

It is not planned to raise the fee for the extension of the Schengen visa, its size will remain the same - 30 euros. However, the Russians cannot take advantage of this option.

The proposal is open to EU citizens until 1 March 2024.
