About the company:
Pushkin Drama Theatre, founded in 1930, is the oldest theater in Magnitogorsk. The history of the theater is closely connected with the development of the metallurgical plant, in which the agit brigade was created. The first artists were the best representatives of various amateur art circles - employees of the enterprise. Two years later, the agit brigade was transformed into the Theatre of Working Youth, which became the first professional theater.
The first performances were staged according to the works of local playwrights, and the stage was the dormitory rooms, working workshops and construction sites. Gradually, the theater developed, new people appeared, the professionalism of actors increased. Soon the Theatre of Working Youth changed its status, was transformed into a dramatic theater and received the name of the great Russian poet. Difficult times came with the advent of the Great Patriotic War, when some employees went to the front. Despite the difficulties, the theater did not stop working - performances were held in hospitals and military units, artists performed in front of soldiers at the front.
Serious changes and renewal came in the 80s, when the theater was experiencing a serious crisis. The basis of the new troupe consisted of actors from the theater studio "Poluostrov" from Dushanbe, as well as some of the actors of the old theater. From that moment, a new life began, partnerships with many Russian theaters were established, as well as international cooperation.
