Description:

The Church of the Ascension of the Lord is a majestic church on the banks of the Ural River, which is one of the most outstanding religious sites built in Russia in recent years. Construction of the church began in 1989, but construction was suspended due to financial difficulties. Only in 1998 the construction of the temple was continued with serious financial support of the Metallurgical Plant. Five years after the resumption of construction, the Temple of the Ascension of the Lord was consecrated.

The temple complex includes several buildings - a seven-domed cathedral, a belfry, a Sunday school building, a mercy house with a refectory, a hotel for pilgrims, a chapel and a medical center. On the territory of the complex there is also a spring with holy water. The architecture of the temple corresponds to the traditions of building Orthodox churches.

The Ascension Church with its slender silhouette became a real decoration of the city. It amazes with its grandeur and impressive size. The height at the highest point is 42 meters, which corresponds to the size of a 15-storey house. The rich iconostasis of the cathedral consists of one hundred and eight icons created by the hands of the best icon painters, who were specially invited from the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
