Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia 171 km FZ
Description:
Kryktytau is a mountain range in the Southern Urals, which is located in the eastern part of the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation. The length of Kryktau is approximately 60 kilometers. The ridge stretches along the Big Kizil River in a northeastern direction within the Beloretsk and Abzelilovsky districts of Bashkiria.
The Kryktytau Ridge consists of a whole system of longitudinal ridges with stony hills. The highest height is at Mount Karatash - 1118 meters, Shershiltau - 1108 meters and Kusimova - 1080 meters.
Kryktytau is formed from volcanogenic rocks - tuffs, porphyrites and tuphobreccias. The slopes on the north and west sides are covered with birch groves, and closer to the tops - deciduous forests.
The valleys are overgrown with birch forests, often wetlands. Sloping slopes are covered with meadows with small areas of deciduous forests. The slopes on the southern and eastern sides are covered with a multi-grass-harvesting steppe.
