Magnitogorsk

Rear-front monument

victory Park, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region 455023, Russian Federation

Description:

The monument "Rear - Front" is the final part of the sculptural triptych, which also includes the famous "Warrior-Liberator" in Berlin Treptov Park and "Motherland" on Volgograd Mamayev Kurgan. The decision to install the monument in Magnitogorsk was justified, because according to statistics, every second tank and every third shell sent to the front was made of Magnitogorsk metal.

The monument was inaugurated in 1979. Especially for him, on the banks of the Ural River, an artificial hill about 20 meters high was poured, the base of which was strengthened with reinforced concrete piles. The 15-meter sculpture is a composition consisting of the figure of a worker who passes a sword to a warrior. The composition is supplemented by the Eternal Flame. The statue of the worker faces east in the direction of the metallurgical plant, and the warrior looks west - where the enemy troops were at that moment.

The idea of the authors of the triptych is that the sword forged on the banks of the Urals picks up the Motherland in Stalingrad, and it drops only in Berlin after the defeat of fascism. The monument "Rear Front" is a symbol of the unity of the front and rear, because the Victory was forged by joint efforts.
