Magnitogorsk Local History Museum

ooh Soviet Army, 51A, Magnitogorsk, Chelyabinsk Region 455037, Russian Federation

About the company:

Magnitogorsk Museum of Local Lore is the first city museum. Its exposition covers a variety of fields of science. Founded in 1944, the museum contains materials on history, art, biology, and geology. Part of the exhibits tells in detail about the history of the fortress-stanitsa Magnitna and the development of the city. Initially, the museum was located in the school building, but after the war it changed its address many times until it was in the current building.

The total area allocated for exhibitions and permanent expositions exceeds 1000 square meters, and about one hundred thousand items are stored in the funds. The subject of special pride is a unique collection of samovars, a magnificent selection of samples of Russian copper and artistic casting, an archive of works by the famous poet B. Ruchev. Of great scientific value are the materials obtained during the archaeological excavations of the graves of the Malo-Kizilsk village and Aganovo-II.

Magnitogorsk Museum of Local Lore is one of the youngest in our country, so the main part of the exposition is devoted to the history of Magnitka. It tells about the period of history when the USSR was actively building socialism, about the history of the metallurgical plant, about the construction of large enterprises. This is a rather rare example when, in addition to contemplating the collections of past millennia, you can immerse yourself in the recent history of the country - see a timeline of the life of a whole city. It is unlikely that after this you can remain indifferent.
