Magnitogorsk

Magnitogorsk through

Description:

Magnitogorsk may surprise. The first shock is the Church of St. Nicholas.

Built in November 1945, it is said that the initiator was the director of the metallurgical plant Grigory Ivanovich Nosov. Architect Dudin M.N., a military engineer, fought, in 1946 was appointed chief architect of Magnitogorsk.

Before the Great Patriotic War, Magnitogorsk was called the atheistic capital of Soviet Russia. Not a single church, not a single priest or mule – the city was built in 1929, when the churches were only closed.

And in 1945 and 46 in the city with 200,000 people, two Orthodox churches were built from scratch (Michael the Archangel and Nicholas the Wonderworker).

Wooden, with Kremlin teeth above the porch.

Of course, it was closed in the 1960s. Club, planetarium, warehouse until the 1990s.

The photo, unfortunately, is already at dusk.
