Walk along the Old and New Arbat

Description:

Old Arbat is a street of free artists, on it you can see musicians and yogis, fakirs and clowns, singers and declamators. This atmosphere of creativity reigns on the Arbat for more than a century, and therefore the most beloved creators here already have monuments: A. S. Pushkin, B. Okudzhava, there is a wall of memory of V. Tsoi.
During the tour, we will learn what etymology the street has, how from the suburban district of Arbat turned into a stronghold of the creative intelligentsia, became a prestigious Moscow center, where in the twentieth century rich noble families began to settle and rich aristocratic estates appeared. We will find out what writers lived and worked on the streets of Arbat, who of the famous personalities loved to walk along the Arbat, to which restaurant Kisa Vorobyaninov invited the lady of his heart. We will talk about almost every mansion, every church and every alley of Arbat. You will learn many secrets and legends of the street, you will even learn what ball on the Arbat served as the prototype of Woland’s ball in Bulgakov’s novel The Master and Margarita. And most importantly, we will talk about the Arbat brotherhood, about those people who are forever united in spirit by this street, this philosophy of constant creativity. You flow like a river. Strange name! And the asphalt is transparent, like water in the river. Ah, Arbat, my Arbat, you are my calling. You are both my joy and my trouble. We will see the Vakhtangov Theatre, which is one of the best theaters in the country, see the golden Turandot, and find out why a monument to this eastern princess was erected on a Russian street. Then we begin to wander along the alleys near Arbat. On Afanasievsky lane we see the church of Athanasius and Cyril of Alexandria, on Philippovsky lane – the Temple of the Resurrection of the Word. Come, you will learn a lot of things about which, except for an experienced guide, no one will tell you.
