Large bridge across the ravine in Tsaritsino

Description:

The large bridge across the ravine in Tsaritsyno in the south of Moscow (another name Gothic Bridge) is a unique historical object of the XVIII century, which is part of the architectural ensemble of the palace and park complex Tsaritsyno. The historical monument was built from 1778 to 1784 according to the project of Vasily Bazhenov for the country residence of Empress Catherine II.

The bridge is a unique masterpiece of Russian construction. This is the largest bridge preserved since the XVIII century, a real work of art. The massive structure is elegantly decorated and looks light, airy. Wide arches of pointed shape, elongated semi-columns in the central part are similar to Gothic portals (entrances to the temple) of cathedrals.

The sun’s rays around the semicircular arches reflect Bazhenov’s Masonic views, symbolize the “All-Seeing Eye” of the Great Architect of the Universe, watching the work of freemasons.

To get to Tsaritsynsky Park, which is the attraction, you can take the metro. Get to the station "Tsaritsyno" (take 1 car from the center), then walk 800 m or to the metro "Orekhovo", from which you will have to walk 1.5 km.
