About the company:

Large diesel submarine B-396 was built according to the project of the Central Design Bureau MT "Rubin" (St. Petersburg) at the plant "Red Sormovo" in Nizhny Novgorod. The boat is named Novosibirsk Komsomolets and served in the Red Banner Northern Fleet from 1980 to 2000. The ship served in the Arctic and Atlantic oceans. In 2003, the boat was converted into a museum in Severodvinsk at the Sevmash enterprise.

The length of the boat 90 m, diving to a depth of 300 meters, has 1 anchor. There are about ten different devices in the captain's cabin - antennas, radars, navigation devices. The boat consists of 7 compartments: torpedo, two residential and battery, CPU, diesel, electric, aft and residential.

Boat crossings were carried out through the hatches, they are preserved, but the traditional doors where visitors pass are added. The torpedo compartments are closed from the outside and 6 torpedo devices are available for inspection inside the boat. In this compartment there are diving suits, which were used when necessary. There were also berths of soldiers, but they were removed, as there would be nowhere to accommodate visitors.

After the torpedo compartment there is a radio room. All maneuvers are carried out by navigation devices. The living part of the boat is very modest. A separate captain's cabin is much smaller than traditional cabins of sea vessels, the situation is strict, no frills. Officers are accommodated two people in the cabin. Separate doctor's cabin and isolation room. Next is hydroacoustics.

The boat is equipped with a small exhibition hall with personal belongings of the crew. There is also a development plan for the museum. On the embankment will be exhibited: sailing ship, modern warship, amphibious aircraft. A museum building with a lighthouse, a square with stands and flagpoles will be built.
